The AI race is heating up with players like OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta’s AI division, Gemini integrated into Chrome, Grok by X (formerly Twitter), and others such as Cohere and DeepMind, all vying to reach AGI within the next 24-36 months. These companies are pushing boundaries, but what’s overlooked is the intense competition and infighting happening behind the scenes. The race isn’t just technical, or bringing just advanced to humanity. NO. It’s a battle of control among tech giants, individuals, and investors, with massive ethical implications for the future of humanity.
As I’ve emphasized in my previous article (you can read it here), being part of and being vigilant is crucial. ASI (Artificial Super Intelligence) could become totally autonomous, capable of creating new AI’s, new programming languages, it can start hacking, cloning, and even establishing a parallel society managed and manipulated. Imagine a world where the wrong hands control this superintelligence; the consequences are unimaginable.
My proposal to avoid this starting now: Let’s protect and keep open source access to all types of AI. Yes, AI for all. Knowledge, access, and opportunity must be shared globally. This needs to be directed from Congress, Senate and commanded to the white house and why not even add an exclusive and unique amendment in the U.S. Constitution that protects American citizens. Only by fostering multiple ASIs we can ensure balance, protecting the people from other ASIs, ethical progress, and a brighter future.
