Boost Your Business by Exporting
Diversify your revenue streams, minimize the impact of seasonal fluctuations, and decrease reliance on local markets by exporting your products. Make the most of the Small Business Administration (SBA) resources and partnerships to achieve your objectives.
Advantages of Exporting
Nearly 96% of potential consumers reside outside the United States, and approximately two-thirds of the global buying power is located abroad. Small business owners can benefit significantly by working with the SBA to meet their business requirements.
Obtain Trade Assistance for Exporting
Expanding your business through exporting is simpler than you might believe. Even small enterprises can take advantage of skilled advisors and advanced technology to venture into the global market.
Resources for International Trade and Export
Small businesses that want to explore new markets, learn about US trade agreements, understand regulations and laws, and avail of programs and services for global expansion can find all the necessary information on the SBA Office of International Trade’s International Sales Resources page.
US Export Assistance Centers (USEACs)
Professionals from private and public organizations with expertise in aiding small and medium-sized businesses with export assistance can be found at USEACs across the country. They can guide you through the entire export process and help you overcome any hurdles that may arise.
Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs)
SBDCs, which are supported by the SBA in collaboration with leading universities and state economic development agencies, can assist you in achieving your business objectives. Their advisors offer free consulting services and affordable training programs.
The International Trade Hotline
The SBA Office of International Trade provides assistance to small businesses facing challenges in accessing international markets. They provide information on the benefits of America’s trade agreements and ensure that small businesses’ rights are protected. Dial the hotline at 855-722-4877 or email at [email protected] to receive help.
Discover new global markets
Expanding your business internationally may be closer than you think. Many small business owners may not realize the potential opportunities that await them overseas. By following federal programs designed to facilitate entry into new markets, your business can take advantage of new avenues for growth.
State Business Expansion Program (STEP)
The State Business Expansion Program (STEP) provides financial grants to state and territory governments that assist small businesses in exporting their products. STEP statewide grants are available to help small businesses:
- Learn about exporting
- Participate in trade missions and exhibitions overseas
- Access services to support entry into foreign markets
- Develop websites to attract foreign buyers
- Design products and campaigns for international marketing
Most states have STEP support. Check if your state participates (in English) and reach out to your local office to see how they can help your business export its products and services.
Export financing programs
Export lending is viewed as risky by many US banks. This makes it challenging for businesses to obtain loans for daily operations, pre-orders with suppliers, and debt refinancing. To overcome this, the SBA has established export financing programs that provide a 90% guarantee on export loans. To learn more about SBA export loan programs, contact your local SBA International Trade and Finance Specialist or the SBA Office of International Trade.
