Empowering Women Entrepreneurs

Grow your Business

The SBA empowers women entrepreneurs by offering specialized training and funding opportunities to help them launch and succeed in the competitive marketplace.

Women’s Business Ownership Office

The Women’s Business Ownership Office (WBOO), in coordination with the US Small Business Administration’s (SBA) district offices, offers business training programs, consulting services, access to federal contracts, credit and capital, to support women entrepreneurs.

The WBOO also oversees Women’s Business Centers (WBCs) which strive to provide an equitable playing field for all women entrepreneurs, as they continue to encounter unique challenges in the business world.

Businesses that receive support from WBCs have significantly higher success rates than those without similar assistance. Find the nearest WBC to gain an edge in your entrepreneurial journey.

Funding Opportunities for Women-Owned Small Businesses

The 8(a) Business Development Program aids small and disadvantaged businesses in competing in the marketplace. Consult with WBCs and local resources for guidance, and utilize our Lender Match tool to secure capital.

In addition, women-owned businesses can benefit from SBA loan programs, with our partners providing valuable insights and advice to help you choose the most suitable path for your company.

Federal Contracting Opportunities for Women-Owned Small Businesses

The Federal Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Contracting Program supports women-owned small businesses in securing federal contracts. Ensure that you meet the eligibility criteria before submitting your application.

The SBA collaborates with federal agencies to enhance contracting opportunities and attain the government’s objective of allocating 5% of contracts to women-owned small businesses. Keep an eye out for networking events for both government and private procurement.

Additional Resources for Women Entrepreneurs

The National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) serves as an independent, nonpartisan federal advisory committee that provides expert guidance and recommendations to the President, Congress, and the United States Small Business Administration. It serves as the sole independent voice for women entrepreneurs and addresses relevant economic concerns.
